STERLING, Colo. (AP) — A rural Colorado sheriff is facing sexual assault and misconduct allegations.
Sedgwick County Sheriff Tom Hanna was arrested Tuesday at his office and is due to appear in court Wednesday afternoon in Sterling.
District Attorney Brittny Lewton said he was arrested on suspicion of first-degree official misconduct, sexual assault on an at risk person, sexual assault by a correctional officer and solicitation of prostitution. She declined to elaborate on what he’s accused of doing.
Hanna has not been charged and it’s not clear if he has a lawyer yet.
He was originally taken to the Logan County jail in Sterling, which houses some inmates arrested by Hanna’s department, but later moved to Weld County.
